Mia Slama and Valentina Steiner put together an impressive run on the clay courts of W15 Merzig, claiming the doubles championship without dropping a set until a hard-fought semifinal battle.
The pair opened their campaign with a solid 6-4, 6-4 victory over Germany’s Laura Boehner and Vivien Sandberg in the first round. They then raised their level in the quarterfinals, producing a dominant 6-3, 6-0 win against Brazil’s Maria Carolina Ferreira Turchetto and American Monika Wojcik.
Their toughest test came in the semifinals, where Slama and Steiner overcame Switzerland’s Josephine Kunz and Germany’s Victoria Pohle in a dramatic three-set encounter, 6-1, 5-7, 10-8, showing resilience to edge through a deciding match tiebreak.
In the championship match, the duo finished the week in style, defeating Ukraine’s Anastasiia Firman and Daria Yesypchuk 6-3, 6-4 to secure the title.
