Orlando, FL — USTA National Campus  Oct 4th-6th, 2025

At one of Florida’s most prestigious junior events, the Level 3 Closed: Bobby Curtis Doubles Championship, the team of Nevette Turner and Abigail Sewell delivered a standout performance to claim the Girls 12U Doubles Title. Held at the world-class USTA National Campus in Orlando, the tournament brought together the strongest teams from across the state, and Turner and Sewell proved they belonged at the top.

Their run began with a composed and well-executed quarterfinal victory, defeating the team of Dana Postovara and Hailey Kline 6–2, 6–4. The match highlighted their balance as a team—Turner’s consistency from the baseline paired with Sewell’s aggressive net play created a dynamic that opponents struggled to match.

In the semifinals, they faced the strong pairing of Paulina Gransater and Savina Somrock. Turner and Sewell elevated their level even further, controlling the momentum throughout the match and securing a solid 6–3, 6–2 win. Their communication, court coverage, and confidence under pressure stood out as key factors.

The championship match against Delaney Guider and Emelia Schwartz was highly anticipated, with both teams coming in with strong tournament results. Unfortunately, heavy rainstorms forced officials to cancel the final match. Per tournament rules, the winner was decided by coin toss, which awarded Turner and Sewell the title.

While the ending was unconventional, their path to the final—marked by clean wins, smart strategy, and undeniable teamwork—made their championship fully earned. Turner and Sewell leave the Bobby Curtis tournament not only as champions, but as one of the most promising young doubles teams in Florida.

A well-deserved victory for two rising stars.
