Weston, FL — April 2025
Nevette Turner continued her stellar tournament season with a deep run to the finals at the Level 4 Open: Midtown Spring Level 4 Championships, held at Midtown Athletic Club in Weston, Florida. Facing a competitive field, Turner once again proved her consistency and talent, finishing as runner-up after a string of commanding victories.
Turner opened the tournament with back-to-back dominant wins. In the Round of 64, she blanked Julia Ead 6-0, 6-0, and followed that up in the Round of 32 with another near-flawless 6-0, 6-1 victory over Elena Satchkov. Her early-round form set the tone for a strong tournament run.
In the Round of 16, Turner defeated Diana Grinchak 6-0, 6-3, continuing her near-perfect play. However, the quarterfinals presented a tougher challenge as she faced a determined Abigail Sewell. After splitting the first two sets 6-3, 5-7, Turner held her composure in the match tiebreak, emerging victorious with a 10-6 finish to advance to the semifinals.
The semifinal match saw Turner back in command as she dispatched Ksenia Labkovich 6-2, 6-2 in a composed and well-executed performance.
In the final, Turner faced top-seeded Emma Dobrean. Despite Turner’s strong tournament showing, Dobrean proved too strong on the day, handing Turner a 6-0, 6-2 defeat.
While the final result wasn’t what she hoped for, Nevette Turner’s run to the finals in a high-level tournament like this further establishes her as one of the rising stars in junior tennis.
