Macon, GA — It was a weekend of strong competition, teamwork, and determination for Catherine Chan at the Level 3 Open “Dominant Duo” tournament held at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center in Macon, Georgia. Competing in the Girls 12U Team Division alongside partner Keira Ouvarova, Chan battled through singles and doubles matches to help her team earn a well-deserved runner-up finish.
The journey began in the round of 16, where Chan faced off against Kinsley Mathews. Despite a tough start, Chan fell 6-1, 6-3 in singles. However, her teammate Keira Ouvarova secured a solid 6-2, 6-1 win over Chase Avery Ericson to even the score. Chan and Ouvarova came together for the deciding doubles match and dominated with an 8-1 victory.
In the quarters, Chan rebounded with an impressive 6-4, 6-2 singles win over Melanie Park. Ouvarova followed with a 6-4, 6-0 triumph over Sofia Petruta. The duo continued their doubles dominance with another strong performance, taking the point 8-2 to sweep the round and move into the semifinals.
The semifinal stage proved to be a test of resilience. Chan battled hard in a back-and-forth match but ultimately fell to Katie Chen 6-3, 7-5. Meanwhile, Ouvarova continued her impressive singles form, defeating Rhiya Chiang 6-4, 6-2. The deciding doubles match was tight, but Chan and Ouvarova held their nerve to earn an 8-4 victory and punch their ticket to the finals.
In the championship match, Chan faced Jacqueline Feehan falling 6-2, 6-1. Ouvarova was defeated by Mikayla Noel 6-3, 6-2 in her singles match. In Doubles they fought valiantly but came up just short in a competitive 8-6 loss.
